The IE9 does not appear to me a major improvement over IE8 in the way it performs on a 64-bit Windows 7 laptop - frequently freezes on common sites such as Yahoo News, etc. On the same laptop Chrome is handling all the same sites and pages just fine - breezing through.

Some of my colleagues reported the same thing - Emily Bryant, Marat Fidarov, Seattle translators club, Bob Watts from Boeing, others. Interestinly, the Russian version of IE9 appears not to have the same problems, although further investigation is needed.

IE9 is still in beta, it will have some issues with websites - It supports HTML5 while chrome doesn't as yet. Have to wait for sites to become IE9 friendly and MS to iron out bugs - which may never happen knowing MS products. FF4 will be better once that is released.
