Without knowing what Operating System you're running or what version of Internet Explorer, we're shooting in the dark, but try this:
Start > Settings > Control Panel. Double click Add / Remove Programs. Look for Microsoft Internet Explorer and Internet Tools. Single click it and click add/remove at the lower right.
Select Repair and follow the prompts.

I've been using Freedom, Zero Knowledge makes it. 3.2
    Works fine with all Windows.
But it's $29 to buy canadian.
Lots of people here using Zone Alarm, free.
I've had a lot of tech calls where people couldn't surf and Zone Alarm and Norton are the only ones that seemed to cause problems.
I used Zone Alarm and never had a problem..
You'll probably get lots of other advise, then make up your mind.:D

If you have the software disk for it, you could uninstall and reinstall it, that may do the trick..
