I'm a downloading misfit!

    I downloaded an audio driver from Windows Update and now I believe it has screwed up my computer. I downloaded it for my USB driver because I have a mini-disc player that wasn't recording with my normal Win 98 components. It said that it was the latest driver for my system. Anyways, now, my computer won't play any audio. Only Windows Media Player will even try to play an MP3... but no sound will happen. Every other audio player states that there is an error, and freezes up. When I check the playback device in the control panel, it says that no device has been selected. However, my Crystal Codec driver says that it is active. Please help me with any suggestions you may have. I'm slightly computer illiterate.
