I have a versions of outlook 2000 and 2003 teacher edition. My computer defaults to the older (addresses, communicatng with ACT!, etc) I would like to unistall the older version but will my contacts and mail be gone? Right now, although I have been using the 2003 version for 8 months, and snyncing with ACT! and Cardscan, it only displays about 12 contacts. If I unistall 2000 will the informtion tranfer??

There must be a way to export that information for safekeeping. Look in the File menu for Import/Export.

When you uninstall one, you may end up with problems with the other, so have your installation media handy in case you need to repair 2003.

You should have this data backed up, anyway, if you don't want to lose it.

There are some free backup apps, too.

As long as you have a disk for Office / Outlook 2003 , you can always install Outlook 2003 even if you have complications with the application.

As far as the data goes , all you need to do is - Save all the .pst files to a different location like an external drive , flash drive or secondary hard drive.

If your Windows User Profile is SkGrin then you will find your pst files in
    C:\Documents and Settings\SkGrin\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

The Local Settings Folder is hidden, so you need to enable hidden files and folders to see it.

PS : Once you backup the data (by copying the pst files , you dont really need to export the data) you can Uninstall Outlook 2000 and start using Outlook 2003. Ideally you wont need to reinstall it.
