You should have bought 2 kits and put one kit in one colored slot and the other kit in the other colored slot.

They may or may not run in dual channel mode, it depends on how similar the ram is, just because it was from the same production run or batch doesn't mean that they are identical. You may have to juggle them around and see if they will run in dual channel.
