    I have 4 pc's with different needs; but I'm certain I haven't covered them all.

    hdd1: fat32 format, with win98 o/s installed
    hdd2: fat32 format, without win98 0/s installed

    have you tried setting hdd2 as primary slave, then copy *.* from hdd1 including folders and subfolders?
