Hi, been here several times asking questions...and I'm back again! Here goes...

Just got my laptop formatted and rebooted because I had serious issues. Now...before I go anywhere else on the net I need to know what to do to protect myself. I'm at work now and don't have access to my McAfee CD until I get home, so Are there any free virus protection programs downloadable on the net I could put on here for now? Second, I have downloaded Adware SE Personal...how should I run it for the first time? What settings/what should be checked? I also downloaded Spybot Search and Destroy and Spyware Blaster. I did the updates but haven't run Spybot yet, and when I double click on Spyware Blaster to run it I get this message "Cannot find import DLL may be missing, corrupt or wrong version File MSVBVM60.DLL error 1157"?? Help? Do you still reccoment Spyware Guard? I haven't gotten that yet. I don't want to get my computer all infected again so looking for advice.

Running Windows 98SE on Dell Latitude Laptop/PC. GenuineIntel Pentium(r) II Processor, 128MB ram

Let me know if you need to know anything else.

I will be waiting for your reply. Thank You so much!

You can get AVG for free here:

    http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php

Here are the instructions for running Ad-Aware:

    Go here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
    and download Ad-Aware SE Personal

Install the program and launch it.

First, in the bottom right-hand corner of the main window click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

Then, in the main window: Click Start and under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Then, deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

To start the scan, click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and then click Next)

    Restart your computer.

    To repair SpywareBlaster:

You must install the Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 run-time on your system. The download is available from Microsoft:

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/vb60pro/Redist/sp5/WIN98Me/EN-US/vbrun60sp5.exe

Personally, I do recommend SpywareGuard as well.

Also, since you've just reformatted, you must get all your Microsoft critical updates and Service Pack 1 (there is still controversy over SP2 so you may want to hold off on that one for the time being).
