importing *.pst files

    I cloned my hard drive for a backup to external hard drive. started from scratch with new install of OS and apps. I tried to import my .pst file and receive a write protected messages. I need my email addresses, etc. Ideas?

    Are you importing the file directly from the USB HDD? If you are, you might want to copy the .PST file to your primary HDD, check the attributes settings on them and then retry the operation.

    outlook wont work with readonly pst files.... as you have discovered...
    pity really i lke to backup on CD and use as a personal folder and cant... without coping onto harddrive
