Windows 2000 Server
Original Mother board: PIII
Replaced with PIIII board and chip.
Now it won't boot and gives the message Inaccessible Boot Device
Is this because the HAL is written to the boot sector or is the Hal info in the (HKLM Key\System\Current Control Set\Services) pointing to the the PIII board and causing the error? Does anyone know how to fix this problem. Would the command in the recovery console Fixboot help?

It sounds like the BIOS is not directing the boot to the correct disk. I assume that nothing else has changed. Check the disk connection. Try booting with a DOS or win98 disk and run fdisk to see if the drives and partitions are viewable (don't change). If you can see the partitions as they were, you might try exiting first and run "fdisk /mbr" (no quotes) and if that is not the answer, try a repair install of 2k to see if it recognizes a previous install.
