Hello,

So i want change my laptop HDD to SSD but only have 1 port to connect it to so what i wanned to so is use my USB hard drive to migrate my OS (windows 10) to the USB drive and after that change my HDD drive with the new SSD drive so that my windows license wont get lost.

i download Minitool partition wizard and did migrate OS and even followed tutorials on google but after i did that all and i wanna boot it from my USB drive its gets to blue screen (inaccessible boot device) error and nothing helps.

anyone who have this problem before or have a way how i can do this without buying a cable to straight put it on my SSD.

already thank you for your time guys

Most likely the USB is not set to be bootable. Is your computer a branded machine?

your license won't be lost with clean install as long as you install same OS (ie. previous = windows 10 Pro, new = Windows 10 Pro)
for example installing windows 10 pro where previous was windows 10 home will not retain license.

clean installation is probably what you want?
ie. doing abackup of your data, do clean install and then copy your stuff back on new windows.

NOTE: license is stored on MS servers not on your PC. it's tied to motherboard
