increase virtual memory?

    is it possible to increase the virtual memory of my computer...im running windows xp and i have changed it before to a higher number than it was...and i clicked apply then ok...and i came back the next day and it was back the way it used to be...i have been through this awhile now and want to know if theres any way to increase it and keep it that way

    oh ya btw the way im getting into the virtual memory if it helps is

    start >> control panel >> system >> advanced >> performance >> settings >> advanced >> virtual memory >> change

    any help is appreciated(y)

    When your typing in your new values, are you clicking the "Set" button?

    Also check your Initial is lower than the Max, silly as it may sound some get them the wrong way around.

    yes im doing all those that you said, but it still changes every time i restart
