Mac girl freaking!

Moved her boyfriend's monitor tonight to set it up to watch a movie and now getting "input not supported". It's an Acer flat screen monitor. About a year old. Computer runs Windows. No difference in safe mode (holding down F8 key after starting with power button on the computer). Get same message. No response from other buttons on the monitor. Tried reattaching cable on both ends. Made sure I was turning on monitor first, before power on computer.

No TV or other monitor to try to hook up.

What next?!

My boyfriend was quite sane about the whole thing...he did the same thing I did and reconnected cables etc. The next day he moved monitor back down to desk level, and walah, it is now working again (except with all the button pushing on the monitor itself or perhaps the disconnect the resolution is off). We suspect in the final analysis the issue is the cable. Crossing fingers it is a $9 solution from Office Max. For the time being we just haven't moved the monitor again!
