I have an Inspiron 8000 for which the display appears dim in some positions of the lid. This is a new phenomenon so I don't know all the variables. Is there a contact somewhere in the lid that could be dirty? Any ideas?

    Hi mmann

It could be that the cable connecting the LCD to the laptop has gone bad and is opening up in certain positions. You could also try reseating the connector between the system board and the display. It could be making a bad contact. The same with the other connectors in the LCD display itself.
