instaling a game thru dos

    :) Hi I bought this games there is 8 floppy disk the name is mortal kombat2 on the disk is dos 3.5 made by midway aclaim i've tried installing but i don't know how first how do i check what kind of dos version i have? have a compaq pc winME i don't know how to install it please help! :confused:

    WinME DOS is equivalent to DOS 7 or 8, I think...the problem is that ME doesn't actually go back to true DOS in "MS-DOS" mode, but runs an emulator. Since the game runs on DOS 3.5 or better (must be OLD!) it might work but I'd be careful; most likely will cause video crashes. Try installing from the MS-DOS prompt option in a window.
    Maybe if you boot from an ME startup disk (to be able to access the FAT32 partition) and install from the command prompt? This would be closer to true DOS mode. Then you could boot from floppy and run the game from the HD.
    Good luck...this is the reason I keep a P-200 with DOS 6.22/Win 3.1 around; any DOS-based game will run on it.
