If I purchase a new computer without an operating system, would it be "wrong" to then take it to my local computer repair shop to have an OS installed? I've seen some setups (less OS and monitor) that seem to have quality components at a good price. A lot less than if you purchased all that stuff separately and still needed an OS. I'm sure that I don't want to install an OS myself!

Also, if anyone has thoughts on a good OS to install right now, let me know. I was always a little leary of anything brand new....no matter what it is, so I'm pretty shaky about WinXP.

    Advice is always appreciated!!

    Greetings Drumr4

I'm no expert but ... I don't see why a shop wouldn't sell you an OS and install it. I have no trouble with either 98SE or XP

:) go ahead and install it yourself...it's fun and you'll learn alot :)
