install windows 7 ultimate 64-bit

Hello all I have a gateway desktop model gm-5483e with a motherboard ecs-945gct-m3 it came with vista home premium 32-bit what hardware do I need to swap out to make the 64-bit version run also I want to use it for some light gaming so how powerful can I go with the CPU right now its an Intel Pentium d925 dual core with each core at 3ghz thanks

Your motherboard already supports 64 bits OS .. so just install it I guess :)

PS: You would be better with windows 7 ultimate, Vista is quite problematic

Lastly the desk top has been in my garage for about a year I live in Chicago so it gets pretty cold could that be an issue even if I bring it inside and let it warm up

It being cold would not be an issue. Not unless moisture has gotten in the case and gotten into the hardware. I would look into that.
