    Hi all,
I'm trying to install a program on my laptop (HP xt155, Windows XP; SP2) and it won't do it.
The program is FolioVIEWS, and the install will begin, the CD will run and then it just quits.

I think I've deleted/corrupted a file somewhere, but I don't know what. I had another Folio program which no longer runs, but I'd think that installing a new program would load all the drivers and software necessary for the new program (at least) to function.

    Any ideas?
    John

    Hi,

Inser the disk into the drive, then go to Run and type D:\install.exe and press enter/ok.

    See how that goes?

Tried that. The install begins and then just ..... stops. No error, no nothing.
I really think I've corrupted a file or stopped a necessary service using msconfig or services.msc. What's confusing is that the install should be able to fix or replace any corrupted files.
Have you (or anyone else) had this problem.
    Thanks,
    John

BTW - does anyone know what services or programs ARE necessary for the installation of new programs?
