I had to remove AVG from the system as there was a virus problem that I dealt with, but now when I try to install a new version of a AVG - I keep getting an installation errror code 0xC0070643 - MSI Engine failed to install the product. Problem with Windows Installer.

Can I please get some help with this. Can I fix Windows Installer if there is a problen with XP?

Why is your computer running Windows XP SP2?

The SP3 upgrade was released in May 2008.

The operating system in that computer is over 6 years out of date.

I was just about to ask the same question as back in 2012 on this topic, the same comment was made - that you needed SP3

    http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp/1066968-out-memory-line-1-6-a.html

You were also asked on that topic if you would kindly post the results of these

    Please download and run MGADiag.
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=56062
•Double-click on MGADiag.exe to launch the program
    •Click "Continue"
•Ensure that the "Windows" tab is selected (it should be by default).
•Click the "Copy" button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
•Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report back here in your next reply.

    Please download and run WVCheck.
    http://artellos.com/ccount/click.php?id=7
    •Double-click WVCheck.exe.
•As indicated by the prompt, this program can take a while depending on your hard drive space.
•Once the program is done, copy the contents of the Notepad file as a reply.

If SP3 cannot install the results MAY show us why

In fact without you running those utilities and posting the results it will be difficult to assist you further, which of course we are keen to do
