After installing redhat linux on my new computer.. It cannot activate the LAN. I have the drivers, but am not sure where to put them. The information that came with the drivers is incorrect, as it tells me to place the drivers in a directory does not exist.

I've followed countless documentations to correct this problem, and all failed. I figured i'd spend a good 6-8 hours on this before seeking help. Anyone have any ideas?

PS- i have no prior experience with linux, so if your reply, use laymans terms- e.g. talk to me as if you would a 10 year old..

thanks a lot

A little more info would help. Like what is the Make and Model of the NIC card and what version of Red Hat are you running.

Try repairing the master boot record for Windows before you uninstall RH:

(I stole the link from lynch's signature)

I looked around for RPM for your card; I couldn't find one, but I'm sure someone around here knows where it's at (or at least a way to get the card installed).

edit: Ah, I noticed in the 95/98 forum you solved the problem. Glad you found the help you needed!
