What arochester means is that you posted this in the Linux forum where it may do better in the forum designated for Apple Mac machines where more of our members who are familiar with Macs may see it. I'll move it there for you now.

Hi :)

First, did you install Ubuntu and delete the Mac OS or just installed Ubuntu alongside the Mac OS?.What version OS are you using?

it sounds like you deleted the MAC OS when you installed Ubuntu. You need to reinstall the OS system. You need to boot into recovery mode and reinstall the OS system.

First, turn off the MAC. Next, press and hold the command+R keys. Keep holding down the 2 keys and now turn on your MAC. Keep holding down the command+R keys until you see the Apple logo. Now release the 2 keys.

Once in recovery mode. Click on Disk Utility at the top left. Choose reinstall OS from this MAC. If you get a error message, then select reinstall from the internet.

At this point, your MAC will ask to verify your Apple ID. Once it verifies your Apple ID, it will do a fresh install of your OS.

If it does not verify your Apple ID, you won't be able to install the OS.
