I recently got a virus and it deleted many of my programs, such as MS Paint and the volume control. When I downloaded replacements for these, different error messages came up such as 'Installer Corrupted' and 'Cannot Recieve File Info'. I thought this was due to windows installer being deleted, so I downloaded a new microsoft one and there didn't seem to be any problems when setting this up. But the downloads still don't work. I only have this problem with programs. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Have you tried reinstalling missing programs through Add/Remove>Windows Setup?

For example Paint is in Add/Remove>Windows Setup>Accessories>Details

And Volume control is in Add/Remove>Windows Setup>Multimedia>Details

You may have to remove first and then Add. You will need your Windows CD or to enter c:\windows\options\cabs when prompted for a disk (if you have those cab files on the drive).

What was the virus? And have you scanned clean using latest definitions? It sounds like the downloads are corrupting which could be caused by something running that shouldn't be.
