hi,

my neighbor has offerred to install a second hard drive on my system -- 60 gb. here is my question --

will this make my pc run faster [33.6] modem, or will it simply give me more memory? i'm too embarrassed to ask ...

thank you,

hi joyt.............it will possibly be a faster access drive, but it wont really be a detectable speed gain.
but always good to add a 2nd h/d
hope this helps you.
good luck

The second drive will give you 60 gig of additional storage but will have no effect on your modem speed or memory.

Consider having your friend install a 56k modem while he is in the computer. They are cheap and you will really notice a difference in your connection speed unless your phone lines are crappy (or you already have a cable connection).

If you set your new HD up as your boot drive your computer will probably run faster. Perhaps your friend would use XXCopy to transfer the stuff to your new HD and then swap them for you: http://www.xxcopy.com/

What size HD are you running now?
