It's going to be an "Xvid" codec, for Windows Media Player. The FAQ page says it will update Windows system files. I don't see what folder to Save it to, where to install it from, etc. (I've only had to download one codec in my life and can't remember how I did it.)
Here is the link if it helps: http://www.xvidmovies.com/faq/
Also, codecs are applications, .exe files - right? Be sure to scan before opening, right?

The installation program is an exe. Codecs are .ax or .dll files and the installation program will register it with the system.

So what I'm downloading is the .exe installation program, and the codec is included as part of it? Where do I save the installation program?

I'm a little confused, I thought it was the codec iteself, not an installation program.

Download the exe to your desktop. Run the exe and it will install the codec for you.

You're welcome. Most codecs install this way. Very few need to be placed manually and registered.
