Installing Directory (Redhat 9.0)

    i have a newby qwuestion: i am using RedHat 9.0 and I want to know where does the file go after you install it to the system. Like for example: You downloaded a file and then install it to my system. Now I want to know how to use the program - Where Is the ffile att? thanks

    Anything downloaded is ,by default,put in the current user's /home directory.When somthing is installed,it really depends on what the file(?) is, to determine what directory it's put in.
