    Scenario:

I bought a replacement laptop battery for my Sony Vaio VGNFW140E running windows Vista. The instructions state that I have to update the BIOS in order for this new battery to be compatible, but the stipulation is the original battery must be charged to at least 30%---the original battery does not hold a charge for even 1 second (hence why I bought a new one).

    Question:

Am I out of luck? Is there a way to update the BIOS with the CD they provided even if my old battery will not hold a charge??

All help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance!

Do you have a link to where you bought it ?

Can you include the instructions in your next post ?

I've heard of this being necessary for Windows 7 but not for Vista.
