I presently have XP installed on a 250 Gb SATA hdd that is only a month old. I've ordered a OEM Vista Ultimate and I want to install it on the hdd I have XP on right now. I was thinking of a dual boot, but I've decided against it. I want to remove XP and (I'm assuming) reformat the hdd.

What's the best and/or easiest way to go about doing this?

Do I boot from the XP disk or Vista disk to reformat?

How do you reformat a NTFS hdd? Is it "map" then "format C: /fs:ntfs" after choosing the drive in the recovery console?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated ...

Just boot from the Vista Install DVD and follow the yellow brick road to a clean install
