I have a IBM Thinkpad 560x with no operating system installed. I have used a windows 98 bootdisk to format hard drive but I need to install pcmcia drivers for my cd rom drive to continue installation.

not sure what boot disk version you have, but if it has format on that disk, it's the wrong one. Go make a startup disk in windows, put the disk in, reboot, it should give you a chioce to start computer with cd rom support.

It will then load "diagnostics tools" to "d:", and make your cd rom "e:", so you would type this at the a:\> prompt "e:setup". Without the quotes.

If you have more than one hdd, say two, then it will be f: like this

    c:\>HDD1
    d:\>HDD2
    e:\>diagnostics tools
    f:\>CD ROM

and so on for however many hdds you have in.
