Hiya

First off, go here and download AddAware www.lavasoftusa.com
Install and run it, ensuring that Deep Registry Scan is enabled. Remove all except any references to Web3000 or new.net. If you're unsure, copy/paste the list here.

Well, usually when the error that you get, with Explorer and kernel32.dll appears, it can be caused by spyware being on your PC. These are programs that you have downloaded that are great, but may cause problems.
An example is Gozilla.

Trust me, most people here have used it, and their systems are ok.

eddie

I'm running Windows 98. It says it doesn't run on that on the page and it seems very confusing.

Here is a clip from the fact sheet of AdAware.
Q: Which operating systems are supported by Ad-aware?
A: Ad-aware runs only under Windows 95,98,ME,NT40 and Win2000.
Some users are running Ad-aware under Windows XP without problems, but a
special XP version is in progress.
AdAware is a very good program as Eddie has pointed out. It will identify any spyware that exists on your system and allow you to choose which you want to remove. Spyware can and will cause errors because it is in sense trying to call its creator with information about your web surfing habits. If you go to tha lavasoft website and download and setup you will be amazed at what it may find.
Eddie cautioned you about Web3000 and new.net links because they require special attention to get rid of.

Here is actual download page for ad-aware
