Hey guys. I just built my...4th computer...I keep upgrading my stuff. :p And I've been having a few interesting issues pop up.

Here is my build

Vista 64 bit...cause I can. :p

mobo

ram from my old build...not the best for this build...but didn't want to buy new ram after spending that much money on ram. :p

same goes for the video card.

My old mobo seemed to start dying on me, so I used it as a excuse to get a better one. It's ps2 ports died, and when I put a usb expansion card into it's pci x1 slot (with something plugged into it) windows would boot up so slow and it wouldn't shut down. I plugged the card into another computer and it didn't have that problem. But this is about my new build so blah. :p

1st issue:

I already read that this particular combo of motherboard and prossesor had a little problem...but with a fix...it better, since the 2 were the best of it's kind for the time being. (as far as phenom II x mobo gigabyte combo) The problem was the motherboard didn't see the processor for what it was untill you updated the bios. (vista kept giving me a score of 4.5) So I used the program that came with the motherboard to update the bios. When it finished, and I tried to boot, I kept getting "bootmgr could not be found press ctrl alt delete to restart". Just when I was about to try to re-flash the bios, I tried going into the bios and used the "restore optimized defaults". When I did this, everything started working, better than ever. Windows booted, vista gave me a score of 5.9, ect. Any idea what happened here? I don't want lingering problems.

Which brings me to Issue #2:

If I leave my computer on for a long time (say over night) everything bogs down...like really slowly. To the point I have to manually restart. The first time it kept saying that I was having video problems, but they recovered. Any idea what's going on here?

Then my newest one. #3:

I tried to install pc wizard 2009. It locked up something fierce. When I restarted my computer, it stayed stuck on the opening screen that said the name of my mother board, and I couldn't even get into the bios. I tried several restarts, but it kept doing this. I went inside my computer and hit the mobo's restart button and, as you can see by me typing this, it's working again. What was that all about?

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm still fairly new to this computer geek side to myself.

what video card are you useing? and are you useing 1 or 2 monitors? i ask this as my 8800gtx 786mb had the same issues with the video problems but recovered... i never found out what this issue was but a diffrent card fixed this also if you are running 2 screens on vista ultimate and have the dreamscenes running on both this will mess things up as i belive it can only run on 1 monitor.. setting it up on 2 monitors will cause issues

Well, it seems it was a driver problem. It's not bogging down anymore since I reinstalled the drivers.

I still want to know what happened to my computer after pc wizard touched it >.<
