With Win 98 and/or Win XP Pro is there a way to check the condition of the internal battery on the MB without opening the case?
My brothers Win 98 PC wil not keep good time. He lives in Nebr and I in Washington. Any help wopuld be appreciated.

Nope. You have to open the case and take the battery out to replace it

Actually some BIOS setups allow to check the voltage of the battery. But if the computer is losing time when it is OFF then its likely time for a new battery. If its losing time while on then look else where for the problem.
