Hi, i just installed xp again and now when i'm on the internet some sites wont open, go really slow or it just says error.
This is different with other browsers, like IE wont be able to open google but can open yahoo, firefox can't open google or yahoo, and opera can open both.

The speed is just going really slow, i had the same kind of problem when i installed vista, i thought vista was just buggy so i went back to xp then never had the problem again.

Take soundmax.com for example, internet explorer and firefox wont be able to open it, only opera can but only if go to soundmax.com via google.
Then once im in the soundmax site i can't click on something like support because it will give me an error saying that it took to long to load.

Or the ati graphic cards site , im not able to acces that site at all but when i try it on the pc downstairs im able to get in the ati site with no problems.

    this is so weird.

I'm connected to internet via a router.

    Any suggestions?

Try clearing all history, cookies and internet files in all browsers.
Start> Run> type cmd and hit OK.
At the command prompt type ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter.
In command prompt type netsh winsock reset catalog and hit Enter.
type netsh int ip reset reset.log and hit Enter.
Close and reboot your computer and see if that helps.

I haven't gone so far as to reinstall Windows XP but all the speed-things-up things I've tried didn't help either. And do I hate those error messages, and you can't get the page. I extend my sympathy/
Long ago airplanes in combat that had weird things happening they blamed it on what they called Gremlins. I thing there are some on the internet too.

Yeah, i think the xp cd is corrupted or something because it made some weird noises during installing.

Other things wont start either like steam ( a game platform ), i guess i'l just have to reformat.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Is this a reinstallation of the same discs?
I am thinking of doing this at some point but I will tell you this...when I went on their recover by date thing my computer crashed. So I think that was their fault, but I can't prove it. I wanted to get Registry Fix first and see what that does. RF was recommended by PC magazine. My brother said to get the disc not download form their site and ask about their warantee...they did not answer me. If Best Buy or some other place has it on disk I'll be set. Some people have had their problems solved by RF. Maybe I'll be lucky.
