BURNABY -- A wheelchair-bound B.C. woman who collapsed with a heart attack at her computer was rescued with the help of Internet chat room buddies in the U.S.
Burnaby RCMP say 55-year-old Darlene Laurie blacked out at her computer last Tuesday, but not before typing 911.
Other people on the chat line from Florida to Washington saw the distress call and tried to find Laurie.
Police say as a result of the efforts of this group, a woman in Kennewick, Washington called the Burnaby RCMP.
The police went to Laurie's address, broke down the door and found her semi-conscious on the floor.
She was taken to Burnaby Hospital, but is now recovering at home.
