When I try to use my scan for updates in help and support I get the following message:

    " Internet Connection is Required

To view this page, you must be connected to the Internet. To connect to the Internet now, click Connect."

When I click connect it says windows can't find a connection although there is one. I've gotten this message in a few other spots (in outlook e-mail,when testing settings although mail is sent and recieved fine) I can also access update through explorer
    toolbar just fine

    Any suggestions

    I have xp home sp1

    Thx.

In Internet Explorer, click on Tools - Internet Options - Connections.

There are 3 options there, but cant tell you which one should be used as you have not mentioned how you connect.

    Try:

    If Dial-Up, tick "Always Dial..."
If ADSL on external router, tick "never dial ..."

Thanks for suggestion. Although I solved the update problem(while browsing the archives) I still have a problem with the Outlook test. It comes up with a connecting to pop error although e-mail is sent and received fine, Another problem, Another forum. I guess

    Thx Again for reply
