Can you give me your internet specs? The type of internet you are using and modem/router information. Also any programs you have recently installed.

I don't know a lot about computers so excuse me if i'm too vague with my information.

I have DSL connection through SBC Yahoo DSL. My modem is a Speed Stream 5360 Ethernet ADSL modem.

I didn't recently install any programs, but I did have a virus attack which was cleaned up on the security forums.

Those could be the result of your virual attack (as in a program trying to phone home). Since I am not on my XP machine I can't help you yet but I think you should be able do delete those in Internet Options > Connections tab.

To download HJTsetup.exe To Download HijackThis go to the following: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item5
    Filename = 1137518044HJTsetup.exe
Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Open a TechSupportGuy forum Reply window for this thread, to have ready to paste the Hijackthis log into. Click once to place the typing cursor in the reply window.
At the top of your TSG/browser window, hit Edit then Paste
You should see your copied Hijackthis log appear in the reply space....then, submit the reply
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\win7A.tmp.exe is a trojan dialer. You are still infected. I will get this moved to Security for better assistance.

Look in your control panel add/remove programs for PuritySCAN By OIN, OuterInfo, Snowballwars by OIN or similar, click on it and click remove.

If not listed, download and run this uninstaller:
    http://www.outerinfo.com/OiUninstaller.exe

Restart in safe mode and emtpy your C:\WINDOWS\TEMP folder.

Restart in normal mode and post your log again.

I couldn't find PuritySCAN By OIN, OuterInfo, Snowballwars by OIN. However, I did find Cowabanga by OIN and YazzleActiveX by OIN and deleted those. Do you still want me to run the uninstaller?

You don't have to run the uninstaller if you don't want to.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust...search/ie.html
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust.../www.yahoo.com
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\system32\smss.dll

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Click Here and download Killbox and save it to your desktop.

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
Put a tick by Delete on Reboot.
In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste the following lines one at a time.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\smss.dll

Click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter the file name.
It will ask for confimation to delete the file.
    Click Yes.
It will ask if you want to reboot now,
    Click Yes.

After the reboot please post your log again.
