You guys have been so helpful with my dads new laptop over the past few days, now i have a problem with my PC.

A couple of days ago, IE started crashing frequently enough to be annoying. I'm not sure what started it but I think it might be a Flash update. Before I updated some flash sites wouldn't show and freeze my PC, enought to force a reboot. I updated and now I seem to get frequent crashes.

Some site, like My Space continually crash so i have to clear Temp Internet files and Cookies to make any progress.

Win XP SP2, P3 700mhz full win update and recent AVG virus chk/ spybot ckh. use zonealarm firewall.

    EDIT- IE version 6.0.26.000

    My HJT file:

Get rid of any toolbar because they can affect your PC. I agree you might need a flash program since most internet websites require flash or java.

You don't even have SP1 - You must get updates from MS

Fix these with HJT – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Update] wuamkop32.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Update] wuamkop32.exe

    O4 - Global Startup: Startup.exe

    O16 - DPF: {64311111-1111-1121-1111-111191113457} - file://c:\eied_s7.cab

    DownLoad http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip

Restart your computer into safe mode now. (Tapping F8 at the first black screen) Perform the following steps in safe mode:

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Standard File Kill. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

    c:\eied_s7.cab

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

    START – RUN – type in %temp% OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete

Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

    Empty the recycle bin
Boot and post a new log from normal NOT safe mode

Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system

Hold off on SP2 until you are clean - run the fixes and post a new log

    Thanks, can't install updates.
I'll consider paying the PC tax when i get paid. Cant afford it.

Should I avoid using internet banking, that my main concern.
