I am having a problem while browsing the internet using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.50.4522.1800. For some reason, whenever I submit a form (POST method) on certain websites, the active browser, along with any other open IE browsers, simply terminate with no error prompt. For example, if I visit www.barnesandnoble.com, type the name of a book in the search field, and then click search, the browser processes for a few seconds and then just closes itself and any other open browsers. The same thing occurs if I go to amazon.com as well as microsoft.com, so I am sure it is not the web site's problem. I visited Microsoft's Knowledgebase and no one has reported any similar problems with Internet Explorer. If possible, I would like to avoid reinstalling IE. Please offer any suggestions.

There is another Item you could try. Are you current with with the updates for 5.5? Do you have the sp2 update? Also there have been problems reported with only certain website and updating or reupdating to VM Build 3802 clears them up. Here is the Link to the MS KB download. If all else fails you could try an IE repair.

    Hiya

    Have you tried a repair?

Control Panel | AddRemove. Doubleclick Microsoft Internet Explorer. Choose Repair, apply and restart.

Also, have you emptied your Tempory Internet Files lately?

Tools | Internet Options. General tab. Under Delete Files, DON'T delete offline content.

    Regards
