My daughters internet explorer has crashed (windows98). I boot up and get internet explorer has caused an illegal action and I get a blank screen. I have tried the start up disk to either reload windows or refomat the hard disk but the computer recognises the start up disk but then just boots up normally until I get the illegal action at the end of the boot up. Can anyone tell me how to get to the re format or setup A:\ prompt please? John

You will need to go into your bios and set the first boot device to the floppy drive.

You could also set the first boot device to the cdrom and boot from the windows 98 cd.
