internet explorer 6 download error

    i attempted to download internet explorer 6 to update my browser. i have a windows me edition computer. it says that the installation was not complete, that i had to reboot to finish installation. i rebooted and it says that some components were not able to be installed and it is ended setup. please help!!:confused:

    IE7 won't run on ME .... XP or 2003 only.

    You don't need IE for Windows updates any longer and the older versions have always presented a security risk so why not try Opera and Firefox instead and see which one you prefer?;

    http://www.opera.com/ Opera is proprietary software, ie: not 'open source', but it is free. It comes ready for use.

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_firefox/ Firefox is open source and free. It does work in the basic format but there are lots of addons or extensions which allow it to do extra things. I only have it as a standby so the only extension I have is NoScript, which I think is essential.

    Both browsers have excellent support systems and you could always post questions here if you did decide to try them and had problems.
