Internet Explorer Error

When I log on, I immediately get a pop up stating Internet Explorer has encountered an error and must close. Sorry for the inconvenience. When I click details, the application is iexplorer.exe and module name is winshow.dll. However, if I click on Windows Updates from the start menu, I can then get online from favorites.

Before this happened, I downloaded windows updates. I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. Also, I was bombarded with porn pop-ups prior to this trouble.

I appreciate any information you may have for me.

 

To correct the IE error you could try going :

My Computer > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs > from the list click on Int Explorer and it should give you the option 'Repair IE'.

With regards undesirable Popup Ads - do you have an up to date spyware remover such as Adaware or Spybot Search & Destroy ?

Once installed Run click Online > Search for updates > Get all updates > Close IE - again in Spybot click Search for problems > Fix all checked.
