Yesterday I ran a critical update from microsoft site for interent explorer 6.0 service pack 1 I believe was the name on a NT 4.0 system with service pack 6. After I did this when I open internet explorer now it just hangs there, and since this machine is on a network I know its the machine because everyone else can still get online. When I go to click on connections tab under tools, internet options I get a fault in inetcpl.cpl and I get immedialtely that the program is not resppnding under task manager, then closes me out. When I go to my mail I also get DR. Watson and the inetcpl.cpl fault. Any ideas what happended and do I need to re-install internet explorer to correct this.

inetcpl.cpl is the control panel applet that is labeled "internet options"

You have to repair internet explorer.

Go to start -> run and type this command

    rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt"

    select repair
