Hello. I have had this laptop for about a year or two. It is a Windows 7 Starter. I always used to use Internet Explorer but then found out that I liked Chrome better. So, I started using Chrome. A few months ago on Skype, I noticed that I could no longer add contacts or look at my profile because a "Check Your Connection" message pops up. So, I searched on the skype website for help and it said that I need to have Internet Explorer online because it runs on those engines. For some reason, I cannot open IE. I will click on it and an hourglass will load and nothing happens... I tried searching up how to get that fixed and it said to try doing Run > iexplorer.exe or something like that. Didn't work. I really want my skype up and running again but the only way it will is if I get IE running. Can someone help me out?

Thanks.

lets see if this is the problem with IE addons
>START
in the search box type . Type “iexplore -extoff” and then you should see that info appear at the top of the box
click onit.
now IE will open

with the message
Internet Explorer is currently running without add-ons

All Internet Explorer add-ons, such as ActiveX controls or toolbars, are turned off. Some webpages might not display correctly.
To continue to your home page, click the Home button.
To browse using add-ons, close Internet Explorer and then start it again.
Check for the latest Windows updates.

How do browser add-ons affect my browsing experience?

Hello,

can also completely reset IE. you're not using it anyway so i assume there's no much to worry on what's saved on IE.

Search > Internet options> Advanced > Reset > check Delete Personal settings > Reset

Makes no sense that it needs IE... It works with FireFox... but I guess it must be correct as your IE is not working.

Check your Task Manager for any iexplore.exe processes when you try to load IE up.
