Does anyone know how to get rid of software popups? IE had downloaded (without my permission) some stupid search bar, and now it won't get rid of it. Every few web pages, a stupid popup comes on, in which the site it goes to doesn't exist. Also, whenever I start a new IE, there is always the Yahoo companion on there, even though I deleted it, it still comes back. Does anyone know how to get rid of stupid things that IE has glued to it?

Download that, run a scan and post the scan log, someone will help you. I'll move you to security where most of those folks hang out ;)

    Happy early birthday :)

Spybot can't find what I am looking for. Basically, spybot will find Spyware, not whatecver is making my computer do this. It's a stupid pop-up that is locked on IE, and I can't get it off of here.

You should do as AcaCandy suggested.

HijackThis examines certain key areas of the Registry and Hard Drive and lists their contents. These are areas which are used by both legitimate programmers and hijackers.

Please do this. Go here http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ and download Hijack This. Un Zip it and click on the Hijachthis.exe.

Click the "Scan" button when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.

Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.

Do NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless. Someone here will be glad to advise you on what to fix.

The log may reveal the source of the problem.
