I also have something else similar coming up that says internet explorer needs to shut down and if problem continues you will need to contact the vendor

    Try a repair:

    Add/Remove programs > double-click Microsoft Internet Explorer > select Repair > Next > OK.

    Reboot when finished and test.

Are you running updated anti-virus and malware scanners?

I'm having the same symptoms with my Internet Explorer. Don't know which version it is.
I'm using Windows 98 SE on a Dell XPS T500.
I went to the Add/Remove but I am not showing Microsoft Internet Explorer on there. However there is shown "Internet Explorer Q916281" which I suppose is the same thing. I did double click but did not get the option to repair, only to remove program.
    Any suggestion for me?

Hi with IE open Click Help in top toolbar>about.
You will see what version you are using.

    98-IE-Repair
    Start>progams>accessories>system tools>system information>tools>IE Repair

IE fix. will reregister IE core files.

    Thank you,
    This is IE 6.0.2800.1106IS

I did the download fix so we'll just wait and see if it helps.

    Thanks again.

I never really believed that MSIE 6 was designed for the 16-bit OS, after all they never released it for 95. Anyway, if you still have trouble maybe you could try IE 5.5 SP1 or Mozilla FF 1.5.0.12, both of which run on my machine without any problems.
