Neighbor brought me her computer (she thinks I'm an internet guru - (n)). Says her internet explorer quit suddenly. Icon is on screen, hourglass appears when clicked, but nothing happens. She says she tried reloading iexplorer but I don't know exactly what she did. Since I can't get it up, either, I can't tell which iexplorer version she has.

    HP Compaq computer
    Windows XP Professional

I followed Rollin_Again's instructions from the expired thread but to no avail.

I could not find the control panel's "Internet" icon to clear cookies, history etc.
I did set Internet Explorer to be the default
I started up in Safe Mode. This made no difference.
I cleaned up I.E. history, cookies, etc. No difference.
I tried to run I.E. with extensions. off. No difference.
I.E. does not show up in the Task Manager.
I removed Google Toolbars and Google Chrome
Curiously, this lady's McAffe screen comes up blank. Can't do anything from it.

    Anything else I can try?

She has Mozilla loaded and it works. However, she says she needs Explorer to interface with her work.
