Just reformatted comp because of the typically wierd errors that have plagued this system. I've tried everything, done everything , and now, everything seems to be fine.

Except for when I leave internet explorer on for an extended period. My Computer reboots itself automatically, without my consent. I lose all my stuff :(.

I use windows XP, and am not sure how to check which version of Internet explorer i have, plz help~.

if you have XP you must have IE6

but to check which version of IE6 and whether it should be patched with the latest security updates open IE/help/about

then if you have reformatted you should go to windows update & download ALL the myriad of security & problem fixes/patches that have been posted

it seems this computer has a myriad of things wrong with it now...

Now, its a struggle just to get it to boot. The computer picks the error message/s of the day to say when it boots, then i have to either try multiple times to get to a desktop, or it repeatedly says disk read error when there are no disks in the drives. Once i get it to boot though, this internet explorer restarts is the only problem.

I bought this computer off VPR Matrix and its had an error record longer than the great wall of china. thx for tips

I suggest you have more than a problem with Internet Explorer going on. You may be having hard drive probs. D/L a HDD utilities program and see if you can run that. It may help in understanding what's going on. Maxtor's diagnostic utlity can be downloaded here:

    http://www.maxtor.com/en/support/downloads/maxblast3.htm

Be sure to read the instructions on the site about how to use it.

raybro, thx for the site, but it seems that program is to convienently format your harddrive. Although I admit, i think it is the harddrive, im not sure that is a diagnostic.

    Any other links? ^_^
