Hi , my girlfriend has a HP Laptop and running Windows 7 on it and just in the last couple of days when she clicks on Internet explorer icon on the desktop or in the start menu nothing happens, she can still skype and do other things on there just no internet explorer, I would help her if I could but I live in Australia and she is in New Zealand, any help would be very much appreciated, many thanks.

Tell her to try creating a new shortcut.
    Go to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer
    Rt-click iexplore.exe/Create shortcut.
Copy the shortcut to wherever she wants to use it.

Spoke to the girlfriend tonight and I asked her to click on the Internet Eplorer icon down at the bottom of the screen as she does not have a icon for it on her desktop. When she did click on it it came up with a message saying internet explorer has stopped working and will close the program and windows will try and find a solution to the problem mind you this has been going on for days. So nothing else happens and like i say we skype with no problems every night, so any help would be greatly appreciated and hughv thanks for your help., many thanks Robert

Boot to Safe Mode and try it. If it works, disable all the add ons until you find out which is the evil one.
