    Hi Guys

Because I had (and having) some messing with connecting up to internet lately, I wondered if it would pay to re-install IE6 again.

If answer is yes, can install OVER present program or do I need to uninstall first.

Second question, is Cnetdownloads ok to go to and is it made clear which prog to download.

IE6 can be a major problem to uninstall & reinstall. It frequently won't let you do an over the top oinstall and if you have XP then you can't easily uninstall

what connection problems do you have/had

try this to see if we can find any obvious causes for your problems
go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results

    Hi Derek

    DVK

Thanks for such a quick response, before I visit site, I will give more details and By The Way, my O/S is W98SE and as I use Belarc, I will try to attach(I say try only because I am newish to PC Advisor and its workings)

Although I try to maintain and clean my PC on a daily basis, I suppose the odd villain creeps in so my PC has been acting up a bit. I try on a DAILY routine to do the following..
Close down using End it All
    ScanDisk
    DiskCleaner
    Ashampoo
    Spybot
    RegSeeker
    Defrag (weekly)
I also use Mailwasher for incoming mail.

All that said, at the moment I am having trouble connecting to the internet (connect box does not appear) when C/o OE/IE/Hmail/ so I am overcoming this by C/O the telephone icon which I have dragged to D/t from Dial up Networking. When connected, the other icons work but it is not the correct way is it. Now and again when I check, my “ always dial my default connection” has become unticked so I tick it but something is causing this change in config. This morning when opening word, I was asked to insert my Office 2000 disk, maybe no connection but who knows.

Anyway, hope this info helps and I will await your reply before doing anything with link and I will try to attach a profile of my PC.

BTW..I connected straight away for this posting, its as though once I have connected in the unorthadox way, all is ok??
