In trying to enlarge font for my father so he could view things more easily, the font on the internet is much too large. Some web pages are not viewable because of it. I have tried the Accessibility, Display, Font via the Control Panel. Tried internet options via IE. Suggestions please. As always, thank you . :)

See if this will help

With IE open, go to View>Text Size
Choose from there

try holding onto ctrl and at the same time move the scroll up/down ... one of those two changes font size.

Thank you very much. Both suggestions proved helpful. Tried suggestions on MSN homepage, though, and still difficult to read. Any further suggestions for those harder web pages. Tried to do system restore (earlier) and computer refuses to let me restore. Thanks

Any other suggestions out there? While playing with the accessibility for my parents, we changed the color scheme...which to the best of my knowledge, changed the background color on the internet...all web pages are white...difficult to read...cannot change color scheme back without the font sizes being altered for some reason...any explanation why my parents computer refuses to do a system restore, regardless of the date?

here is one....
right click on desktop, select properties, appearance...then
under WINDOWS AND BUTTONS. select windows classic style.

go to color scheme. and try the following high contrast # 2, pumpkin, or lilac. that may change it enough for you.

find the one you want. click apply than Ok and you are finished.

hmmm, maybe more issues in play here if you can't access system restore.
For openers, let's run spybot and adaware [gotten from links below]. After that I also suggest running Hijack This[link below] then follow the below instructions fully, and post the log in this thread, whereupon it'll be analysed by those-in-the-know here and then appropriate fixes will be suggested..

follow the next instructions on posting the Hijack This log here;

It’s very important that you save the log to its own permanent folder on your hard drive, such as Program Files/Hijack This, or My Documents/Hijack This, (NOT a temporary files folder) or you may loose the ability to undo any changes you make, so that it can create proper back-ups and be able to restore them if necessary.

Close all open windows/and any open web browers and open Hijack This. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and then save it to NotePad. Click on “Edit” – “Select all” – “copy” and then “paste” into the thread.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET;- Await further analysis here.

Bobol, thought I would update you before I attempt anything. Not able to make it to parents yet...father has informed me he has viruses. He has McAfee, updated as far as I know. Here are his errors as best as I can relay them to you since I cannot copy them directly at the moment: "System volume information restore B57680B2BA0A4E5D.Your computer was infected by the Proxy MITGBEDR. Trojan has been deleted to complete the cleaning process. Strongly suggested you scan your computer for viruses." When my dad scans, there are about 5 System 32(?) Bagle virus listings. Says they have been deleted, but when he gets on the pc again, the same messages come up. He is saying he cannot use hotmail or yahoo...various errors.I told him to stay off the pc completely until I could get to him...Any new, further suggestions or shall I follow your previous instructions still? Thank you much.

Virus/malware files in the system restore area can be dealt with by deleting the restore points that contain the files. Try turning off System Restore for that drive, then turn it back on.

For Johnwill, thank you. I followed your instructions and could finally complete a system restore. I created a new restore point...one I knew would be good...but at the completion of it, nothing had changed...font and color still messed up...Finally managed to get Hijack posted...as listed above....before I did the Hijack, I ran Spybot and Ad-Aware and made it so my fathers computer "show all hidden files" and unchecked whatever is right under "show all hidden files"...mind is a blank at this moment...

bump....
I do see a couple of log fixes needed, but I can't give a full analysis like many others here, so let's wait for their input.

Click here scroll down the page until you find "Download the FxBeagle.exe" click on the link and run the removal tool.

Make sure you follow the instructions on the web page.

Reboot and post another log.
