    Hi Byteman,

No my virus program is Microsoft Security Essentials. I did use AVG for awhile. I ran RegCurePro yesterday. It is supposed to be a Microsoft partner so thought it was safe but it did no good. I'm having even more problems now even though it says I am looking good. I posted in the Malware forum all the info requested.

Thanks for the help, I am 65 and not especially techy savvy so your help is truly appreciated!

    Registry cleaners are all garbage.

Have you tried to use System Restore and go back to before you install RegCure?

    This message:
    Master Disk HDD S>M>A>R>T> capability...Disabled
Is however completely unrelated and is a hardware/BIOS message saying that SMART monitoring for the hard drive is not enabled, thi swould have to be turned on the BIOS setup when you first turn on the computer; probably press DEL or F2 to enter the BIOS setup then you'll have to navigate the menus with the keyboard to find the SMART setting. SMART is used to predict failures on the hard drive, it's not perfect though.

I did today, I went all the way back to June 1, 2012. The disabled part is still there, I will try what you suggested. Thanks!

SMART being disabled cannot be enabled by software as it's a BIOS setting, it was also not caused by RegCure as RegCure cannot alter BIOS settings. It may have always been there or the BIOS may have coincidently been reset.
