For some reason the internet is very very slow today it is like that on all my computers in the house today..

I called my ISP and they say they install some software for wireless internet they where not that nice on the phone and saying they are busy with other calls. And was saying turn my router off and than back on.

The internet is working  just very slow. And is like that on all computers .Could some how malware effect the router ?

On the tech web site it was saying this.
When a computer or router constantly requests an IP address from our DHCP server, it is called DHCP flooding
.

Could the malware be doing this? And what is DHCP flooding? I don't think all computers in the house has malware.

And how will software for wireless effect my computer? Why would the ISP install new software like that?

All my wireless and non wireless computers the internet is very very slow .

Hi,

I have cable / with a wireless router. I have 20Gb download per month. If I go over that ..........my internet connection goes slow then slower.

If you have a limit is it possible you have exceeded it?

I am a beginner and this is only my opinion.

If it's slow on all the computers, my guess is it's probably something common. From the ISP reaction, I think that's the likely suspect.

Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like:

If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different!
and your IP will be disguised.

Copy/paste that link here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.

That's clearly an ISP or modem issue, that's where you need to look.

Well it has been 24 hours and it seems to be running okay now.May be the ISP change the gateway and I was still connecting to the old one.

no idea how software for wireless would do this.
